Set Option 1

Let’s keep the focus up front! In this option we would opt to dress our background with Christmas decorations that are universal to the holiday seasons.

WHITE LIGHTS. CHRISTMAS TREE. GARLAND. BOWS. PRESENTS.

Using a shallow depth of field we would be able to control the look of our background to make it fit with in our brand style guide and give the illusion that we are in a holiday theme setting. Working in a set wall window or just curtains on the edge of frame to give us depth and light motivation. We would allow the background to fall off into black in some areas while having the lovely look & feel of the bokeh Christmas light in other areas.

Set Option 2

This direction would be inline with printing a backdrop that is a holiday themed kitchen or living room. We would be able to have a little more detail in the background of our scene where you see kitchen cabinets, a back counter space, an oven and some cooking accouterment to fill out one back set wall.

THE IDEAL SIZE WOULD BE 10’ HIGH AND 12-16’ WIDE PRINTED ON MATTE CANVAS

We would still use a shallow depth of field to help our two dimensional background feel embedded in the scene and work in a Christmas tree for some mid ground elements to help make the space feel bigger .

Set Option 3

This would be a minimalist approach to the set design. We would utilize that black stage curtains at the studio we are shooting in. Then dress the background with lights, garland and a Christmas tree using stands and other rigging elements right off the edge of frame. It would have a simple backdrop feel in a symmetrical approach working in subtle holiday touches on the top, left and right side of frame.
